What can visitors expect at

the Dolphin Centre?

The Dolphin Centre takes visitors into the fascinating world of dolphins and marine research through a modern, interactive and engaging exhibition. Located in the heart of Piran, the Centre offers visitors an opportunity to discover the lives of dolphins in Slovenian waters as well as the research work of Morigenos, where we have been monitoring and studying dolphins in the northern Adriatic Sea for more than two decades. The exhibition is designed to combine scientific content with an engaging experience for both children and adults. In addition to informative panels available in Slovenian, Italian and English, the exhibition also features interactive elements that allow visitors to step into the role of dolphin researchers and learn more about the methods we use to study dolphins.
A particularly memorable part of the exhibition is the acoustic room, where visitors can listen to the sounds of the sea, boats and dolphin vocalisations. The experience reveals the importance of sound in the lives of dolphins, helping visitors understand how these animals communicate, navigate and search for food, while also drawing attention to the growing impact of human activities on the marine environment.
Among the most popular parts of the exhibition is a realistic life-size dolphin model named after Morigenos – one of the dolphins most frequently sighted in Slovenian waters. The model allows visitors to experience the true size and appearance of a dolphin up close, making it a memorable experience for many. The Centre’s newest addition is the real skeleton of a dolphin calf, offering visitors a rare opportunity to explore the anatomy of dolphins and the adaptations that enable them to live in the marine environment.
The Dolphin Centre is not just an exhibition, but a space where science, research, education and a passion for the sea come together. It is intended for all generations – curious individuals, families, school groups and everyone wishing to discover the sea and its inhabitants from a different perspective.
The Dolphin Centre is supported by OceanCare and Animal Welfare Institute.
