Project Name: Morigenos Academy
Funding: CNVOS through the European Union project Impact4Values
Co-financing Amount: 58.541,10 EUR
Duration: September 1, 2023 – November 30, 2024
Project Goal:
Morigenos Academy is a project aimed at establishing a community of young people who care about nature and the society they live in. It is intended for students in the final two years of primary school and for high school students, with the goal of providing them with an active, educational, and socially beneficial way to spend their free time in Piran.
Project Summary:
the Morigenos Academy project addresses two interrelated challenges:
(a) The need for effective protection of marine ecosystems in Slovenia, which requires a holistic approach, including education and collaboration among various stakeholders.
(b) The lack of opportunities for personal and professional development for youth in Piran, especially in the winter months when the town is empty and activities are scarce.
The main goal of Morigenos Academy is to improve the lives of young people in Piran by offering educational and socially beneficial activities that promote active citizenship and awareness of the importance of natural resource conservation. The project includes various activities, such as educational workshops, meetings, and debates, aimed at encouraging young people to take an active role in their community and to better manage marine ecosystems and the environment as a whole. Morigenos Academy will carry out diverse activities, including educational meetings, mentoring, workshops on environmental and social issues, and collaboration with local institutions.
The project will provide 16 meetings to offer young people opportunities for learning, social skill development, and active participation in the local environment.
